Thanks to amazing work by the Haileybury projects team, assisted by Greg of NCFM, the library at Haileybury is well on track for its summer transformation.

Working from the top down, last few weeks have seen a three-storey internal scaffold raised and then lowered, as everything at a high level has been installed and decorated, including the historic cornice and sash windows which have been restored to full operation.

A new staircase has been constructed to reach the mezzanine floor in its original position and the historic balustrade reconstructed. This will offer a much improved and flexible space for students to lose themselves with a book.

Work is progressing on the historic bookcases, which 150 years ago were in another library elsewhere on the campus. Now they are being restored and redecorated, with a new sliding divide and tv screen to create a separate teaching space installed.

This library is coming to life around us, and we can’t wait to see the students of Haileybury College exploring and using it.

Watch for further updates this summer.
