We are delighted to have received listed building consent for the external restoration of Bradby Hall and Ayckbourn Theatre at Haileybury College, the first phase of which will commence this summer.  It is fantastic to be working with a client who recognise the heritage value of their campus and are prepared to invest to preserve that for the future.

Completed in 1887-1888 and designed by Reginald Blomfield, the building is a prominent example of Victorian architecture with Dutch Renaissance influences.  Originally constructed as a school hall and gymnasium, accompanied by classrooms, carpentry workshops and laboratories, it is named after Dr. Bradby, a former Head Master who led the school for 15 years.  The design of this 20,000 sq.ft building balances grandeur and simplicity, although this may not be instantly apparent when observing the white painted cupola which at 7.5 metres in height is two-storeys tall itself!  The scaffolding of the building will be an engineering feat of its own, and we look forward to sharing updates as work progresses.
