Visited for the first time in 20 years via extensive scaffold, the cupola on top of Bradby Hall is an impressive structure in its own right. 7.5m tall with three lifts of scaffolding this Victorian structure is visible all across the campus.
The cupola is comprised of a primary timber structure beautifully dressed in lead, with the timber mouldings superficially planted. Due to the excellent lead detailing most of the cupola needs little work.
An unexpected find is the metallic moulding within the highest level (final image). It’s neither a bell or a counter weight, but what do you think it is?
